In this post you’ll learn the answers for the questions: how to promote a blog? and why does it matter?
Blogs are one of the best ways of both spreading your word to the public as well as an inexpensive way of promoting a business/product. Just like a singer, it doesn’t matter how good your content is if no one knows it exists, since no one will get to know how amazing it is in the first place. So, the promotion can in a way be as important as the creation of the content itself.
How to promote a blog?
There are dozens and dozens of ways to promote a blog. The big part of the job is not to get to know all of them, but to apply the most powerful consistently. Below are three of the most powerful ways of promoting a blog.
1. Social media
You’re probably aware of this one. The number of people using any of the existing social networks today gets to the billions and growing. So, it’s a no brainer that if you want to promote your blog for as many people as possible, the place to go is where there is the greatest concentration of people. That place is the social media. So, is you don’t have an account on social networks such as Facebook, twitter, etc, the first step towards your promotion efforts is to create one.
2. Word of mouth
The second way to promote a website is by… You guessed it, word of mouth. When any other form of promotion is unavailable, the one thing you can do that doesn’t involve any money or technology is to tell people about it by mouth. This includes family, friends, their friends as well as the friends of their friends, etc. If well applied this strategy can bring a good deal of public awareness and traffic to your blog.
The goal is to tell as many people as you can about your blog.
3.SEO and the usage o Alt Tags
The last of this list is SEO, and the usage of Alt tags. The reason why you might want to promote your blog might be to increase your odds of ranking high on the search results. But oddly enough, the search engines can also do the promoting by placing your content on their search results. The result is more traffic, that can by itself increase your rankings further more. By placing attractive/convincing Alt tags along with your posts, you can attract more people to your content, even if you’re not in the first position of the search results.
NOTE: If you plan to promote your blog through the social media or on the search engines, it’s important to do one thing: post frequently!
It is all about knowledge and experience 😉
